That archive was liberated from his material in the 90's.
I leave it to your own imagination how they left the archive.....
If you have trouble with your conscience; you better don't collect MIA aircrew wp/sb's.

The "archive" in question must have been BA-ZNS in Kornelimünster bei Aachen. They had all of the personnel records and documents until 31 Dec 2005, when they were transferred to BA-MA in Freiburg im Breisgau, or so I am told. I wonder who stole the stuff? Must have been an "inside" job.

      Peter,

Who says it is one of the many that came from an archive all those years ago....why is it not one that came from the next of kin as they were sent to them after their death?

For MiA's it was I believe two years before they were listed as Killed.......I have a group that was kissing August 1944 and his Wehrpass was sent to next of kin January 1945!

It could have come from absolutely anywhere.......or do you have a list of everyone that was ever there???

        Hello,

I know what I have seen with ALL the militaria document dealers in the early 90's.
A lot of wp/sb's from mia luftwaffe aircrew and KL-Sachsenhausen related wp's.
They where sold in a year and afterwards they had nothing anymore, so that means 1000's of liberated sb/wp's are in collections worldwide.
Non of those wp's where ever sent to the next of kin.
So when I see a luftwaffe mia air crew member or a genuine KL-Sachsenhausen wp I'am almost 100% sure of there source.
And who am I to judge it is wrong to have such a wp's in your collection, I had them myself in the past.
And what is the moral question here anyway, you almost can't collect TR related documents without having "liberated" items in your collection.
And is it wrong to have liberated items from an archive in your collection?
        NO!
But perhaps it is better that a dealer paid a few coins to the next of kin and then sells it with a lot of profit to a collector?
Or a collector gets it from the next of kin or the vet for free to research it and then just sells it afterwards?
Also such a items are in my collection. Probabily in yours also.

And personally I believe all those wp/sb's are better of with collectors who research them then in a archive cellar not to be seen.

        Cheers,
        Peter
