I recently bought an EM on the E-stand for 10/JR 199 which i suppose refers to Jäger Regiment 199. I tried to retrieve some infor from Die Lexikon der Wehrmact but i didn't find anything. Anyone may help with basic informations on this unit and where it was deployed? Thanks in advance

A "J" in many cases more than likely is a capital "I", so your EM would be 10 Kompanie, Infanterie Regiment 199.

A "J" was stamped on it if you want but it is actually a capital "I"......there was no Jaeger Regiment 199.
That is how it is written also....I get letters to "Jan" when my name is "Ian"!!!Photos/images copyright © Ian Jewison collection

Hello
In the erkennungsmarken abbreviations the J stands for Infanterie.
The "great" I is blocked for the Wehrkreise and Luftgaue.
Best regards
