My german isnt the best, but it seems he was awarded D.R Sportabzeichen, and Reitersportabzeichen in Bronze...which matches the portret.

And at last, the abschrift of a letter send to Oberleutnant Flach's father, describing his sons death. Flach lead the 9. company in battle, and was severely ingured by a shot to hos stomach 17.08.1942. He died the following night. Apparantly there was quite heavy fighting around this little town. 15.08 they were attacked by panzer, 16.08 they repulsed 5 russian attacks, and held the position the next day aswell. The company was overrunned by russian panzers, but did not step one step backwords.

I must say, this grouping is one of the most interesting I have ever owned. Any comments guys?

If you can show a close-up of the profession line I could perhaps tell what it states. He apparently died the same day of his being wounded. Pauke
