Gefreiter Philipp was serving in Northern Italy as part of the 92. ID which, after the fall of Rome, was absorbed by the 362. ID which was holding positions on the Gothic Line. Philpp was born in 1902 and had previously served in the Czechoslovak army as a Sudentendeutscher. He was called up for active military service in July of 1944.
Philipp survived the war and was captured by British forces. He was then employed in the 324. German Engineering Coy and was released on 21. September 1946.
