    Hi Peter

Okay than we have missunderstand but thats no problem God give us mouth for to talk and we talk

I understand what you mean and I can only say the photo that I got was 10 x 15 cm and is make in N******252;rnberg in a photoatelier , I don******180;t absolutley shure if he is it or not .In the soldbook was a message to him for a "Kameradschaftstreffen " in Austria last year I can look if I find by the 2 Panzerregiment any from him or a other soldier the can give me answerd from the 506 Tiger .

What I can say is that I was wondering that he not got a Ek 1 , but the third class from PKA .And that the third class PKA award stand under the Woundbadge award but was from the date before it .So you are wright is giving a many people the make all for sale items and I see a many Wehrpass or soldbooks the got high awards that the soldier never become .All what I can make is to look the Feldpostnumbers the was wright with the first company from the Tigers 506 and so I like the book , normaly no Wehrpass or Soldbook leaves my collection in any times

    Regards Thomas

P.S. But Peter I was happy that people help me and ask questions if the was not shure if any is original or not for that thanks a lot to you and the other here in the Thread

The fact that it's a Zweitschrift and that it is missing it's photo aside, you still have a great piece of history there, Thomas! As you know, s.Pz.Abt.506 was a Tiger Abteilung with a very impressive combat history that used both the Tiger I and later the Tiger II. To find a Soldbuch to any Tiger unit is no easy task, but to find one to a Tiger crewmember is extremely difficult. Add in those killer numbered PAB awards and you've got one great piece of Tiger history.

I too frown on books with bogus entries and bogus/replaced photos; they have been tampered with and so the historical significance and purity of the ID has been compromised. I am not a big "fan" of Zweitschrift books but I would never be opposed to owning one, especially to a say RK trager, a member of a “named” unit, or someone with significant combat experience or was of significant importance to the war effort.

And while I normally shy away from a SB with a removed photo, I’d still consider buying one if it fits the same criteria mentioned above. While it may be “worth less money" without the photo, it's still interesting, significant and desirable in its own right.

Remember, not everyone here collects for the money. Collecting should not be viewed simply as "an investment" because if it is, then you are collecting for the wrong reasons. Yes, you should always consider the resale value of any item you add to your collection, however the history, rarity, etc. behind this book are what make it valuable, and anyone who appreciates it for the right reasons and who is looking for a Tiger crewmember Soldbuch will gladly purchase this from you should you ever decide to sell it... missing photo and all

        Hi John

Thanks a lot of your opinion than that was the self than my opininon , I was not fan from Zweitschrift too but I look a couple of years for a Tiger Soldbook and find not any and so I was very happy if I find this last week .The photo was not so interested for me ( I was happy it was in the book but I can live without photo ) only the thing that the book was original .I collecting not for to sale after than I got a many orders for my soldbooks or Wehrpass ( only for the Freyer Knight Cross Convolut I got 100 orders for to buy ) but I never want sale any and so is not problem for me if I got 100 or 500 Euro for a soldbook , only for dealer is that the problem but I was collector not a dealer

The only thing to sale any from my collection was that any from my family was sick or died and I must ending my collection for finacelly problems ( but I hope that comes not in my live )

I only what know if all clear with my Wehrpass and Soldbooks than in this times give more and more copys and replaced books and I was happy that I have collectors and friends the can help me whit my questions

        Regards Thomas

very impressive SB thanks for posting scans!i agree with what was saaid about photos being removed lowering the value but as allready mentioned i doubt you would find a collector who would not want that SB in their collection with or without photo.

            this is a stunning book.
This is one case where I would actually look twice at a zweitschrift book.

              Hi,
              Another great book!!

Although, In my opinion, and in response to some of the comments on here, I really can't see the major hang-up people have with zweitschrift
              Soldbuch/Wehrpass?
At the end of the day, books were lost/damaged beyond repair etc and they had to be replaced, and the information is recorded in a new book...but it's the same information!! Which (and this is just my opinion) is why we collect Solbuch/Wehrpass-to research the information within them!!
Considering alot of zweitschrift still carry new entries after they have been issued, I can't see the problem?

If you find the information in the book interesting and it's within your sphere of collecting, I personally can't see what is wrong with a second issue.Lets face it,aren't a lot of Stalingrad books zweitschrift?
It may be preferable to have a first issue, but being zweitschrift certainly wouldn't 'stop me looking twice at one'

              Best regards,Lynton.

                Hello,

It is nice to see a change in attitude towards sb's with photo's ripted out.

A few years ago I witnessed collectors trying to sell or trade their sb's (with in one example even a RK citation) with their pictures ripted out, for low prices and they still had a diffficult time getting their sb's traded or sold.

Perhaps this has to do with good and/or highly decorated sb's for payable prices becoming scarce?

Nice Soldbuch - thanks for posting.

I too made the mistake before of selling an RK Soldbuch with photo ripped out. I found a picture of the owner, but still sold the book.

Zweitschrift is often less interesting than Erstschrift, but you have a nice soldbook, Redviper. Congratulations.

                      Really??
I disagree, as I said in the above post, They contain the same information as the original, which is why we buy them to research! So how does that become less interesting because it's a copy of the original when it would contain the same information as the original?

                      regards,Lynton.

And i read he become the woundbadge in silver (6,12,44) later as the 3.PKA(15.10.44)??

                          Cheers Tommy
