I just need to work out how he got these wounds with 2/Inf Ers Bn 316?
Well he was in the town Hospital at Orel and War hospital 4/609, however the latter I can only find the location in 1944....
I doubt he was wounded whilst with IEB 316!
Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 316
Formed 28.8.1939 in Schwabmünchen, Wehrkreis VII; 11.9.1939 transferred to Augsburg; vom 14.6. until 6.7.1940 as I./Feldrekruten-Infanterie-Regiment 265 (Kommandeur der Ersatztruppen 400) in
Krakau near Oberost, then again in Augsburg; 1.10.1942 divided into Ersatz- und Reserve-Bataillon;
7.11.1942 renamed Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 316 and on 10.6.1944 disbanded.
Also known as Keratoconjunctivitis which is dryness of the conjunctiva and cornea which may cause the cornea of the eye to become thickened and cause a loss of visual acuity
Section B is his replacement units that he served with.
Section C his field units
Section D his current responsible replacement unit for his field unit (section C).
Infanterie-Regiment 246
Formed 1.12.1939 (6th wave) at the Truppenübungsplatz Grafenwöhr, Wehrkreis XIII, personnel submitted from Wehrkreis VII (Stab and I.: E 62 Landshut, II.: E 423 Neuburg, III.: E 91 Kempten);
Renamed Grenadier-Regiment 246 on 15.10.1942;
Structure: I. 1-4, II. 5-8, III. 9-12, 13, 14
Under: 88.Infanterie-Division
Replacement unit: Wehrkreis VII, since 1.3.1941 Stab and I.: E 316 Augsburg, III: E 320 Ingolstadt
From what I just posted, you can see that I. Bataillon, Inf.Rgt. 246 had replacements from IEB 316.
The Kriegsstammrollennummer (Personal roster number) ends with 41 which is a good indication that he joined that unit in 1941.
What you should do is write out a time line ie. take the dates and units and put them in number order....that way you can get a picture of where he was when!
Problem with Heer and SS Soldb******252;cher, there is no dates of transfer to and from a unit, unlike Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine!
