    Army Wehrpass with Fuhrer Commendation

I have seen this for sale. It states that he was awarded a fuhrer commendation.

What level of award was this? and is it scarce?

    Below is the description

A scarce Army Wehrpass to Gefreiten Joseph Becker 11./Gren.Regt.427 who received a Fuhrer Commendation for courage, the same day he was awarded the Wound Badge in black, and a few days later the Iron Cross 2nd Class (October 1943).Only two months later he was listed as missing in action, presumed killed. He was only 19 years old. ******163;295

For the Anerkennungsurkunde/Ehrenblattspange the holder should have been awarded both classes of the EK first.

You are saying this guy received the EK II after.........suspicious!

Unfortunately the pics he supplied are small.

According to his description he got the fuhrer award before the EK11.

(Also is the award just a cert or is it a physical award ?

According to Angolia's "For Fuehrer and Fatherland," the Fuehrer Commendation Certificate," paralleled the "Honor Roll," (Ehrenblatt des deutschen Heeres) instituted in 1941. There was no actual "medal" issued with it until the Ehrenblattspange in 1944. All those having been awarded the Fuehrer Certificate automatically received the Ehrerblattspange. According to Horst Scheibert's book, gefreiter Josef Becker is not listed.

I have asked him for better pictures and clarification. (Would it be possible he was not listed because he KIA in Dec 43?)

            Jeff,

There is a good thread to read on this subject:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ennungsurkunde

If he was awarded the Anerkennungsurkunde, you would find his name listed in a different book , see above thread .

Your Wehrpass entry seems to be " Anerkennung......??.........tapferkeit"

An entry for the "Honor roll " listing would read ; EHRENBLATT DES DEUTSCHEN HEERES.

It's possible Becker just isn't listed but gives reason to give the entry a harder look.

As mentioned above...without EK II and I your man could not be awarded the Annerkennungsurkunde or Nennung in Ehrenblatt. It could be that his EK I was not entered, but the Annerkennungsurkunde could not be awarded prior to his EK II.

In my opinion the reason why Becker is not listed for this award is because he was not entitled to it.......there are already signs that point this way!!!

                    OR

It is not the Annerkennungsurkunde and something else.........which is does look like also!!!

This dealer has had this wehrpass since 1996...I still have the list with it on somewhere. I have seen in person at many shows over the years.

Bizarrely (giving that it has never sold) it increased in price by ******163;100 a few years back. I'm not an economic genius but I thought it was standard practice to reduce prices if things didn't sell. Must be taking a leaf out of Gordons Medals book.

What were your opinions on the awards page and the entry? I have bought some items in the past from his shop in Warwick and I find him frustrating.

                          Hi,
If the same dealer has had this since 1996,and given the previous comments on this thread, I would say it's a bad sign, and give it miss.
I would certainly want to see better pictures than those you have posted.
                          Regards,Lynton.
