Artillery Feldpost Number

This had previously been posted in the wrong section.


I have a pair of German field glasses from a local vet. Inside the case they are marked "5/AR.15" and "1641557" which I assume is the postal code. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry I don't think that is a feldpost number. It is too long. The largest number I have on file is 6 digits.

As Ade pointed out it is too long for a FP Nr.

These are the actual FP Numbers:

FP Nr. 10427 - 5 Batterie, Artillerie-Regiment 15, cancelled Spring 1940 and became Fp.Nr. 23438 C

FP Nr. 23438 C - 5 Batterie, Artillerie-Regiment 15

I suspect it is the GIs serial number who captured it. Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
