    Wehrpass notation question?

    Gentlemen,

A quick question concerning a repeating notation in a Feldgendarmerie Wehrpass that I have. The Truppenarzt has a continuing notation that reads, "Kv." in section 29. The same notation (K.V.) is found in the induction section 18. I presume it means fit for service or something similar but what term does it abbreviate?

    Thanks, George

Hi George, it stands for "kriegsverwendungfahig", fit for war service.

    Cheers
    Ian

Thanks Ian. I could not figure that abbreviation out for the life of me.

Just for correctness it is actually spelt Kriegsverwendungsfähig.

          Ian,

Thanks for the spelling correction. I was drawing a blank for the word when I looked at the Wehrpass notations.

This Wehrpass is interesting to me in that this fellow was not transferred from the Ordnungspolizei (as was usual) but was a transfer from the Luftschutz at Berchtesgaden. He was promoted from Feldgendarm to Obergefreiter d. Fdg. during his service time and was stationed on staff at the Feldgendarmerie Training School at Litzmannstadt. It appears that he was a technical instructor or clerk as he had no combat awards.
