Hello!
I'm looking for some informations concerning NCOs-to-Officer transfer in Wehrmacht. As far as I know before 30.01.1940 the system of Officer's candidates was very simple and easy:
Rank Fahnenjunker was for the "cadet" attending a two month course at a Kreigsschule (military school).
Rank Fähnrich was for the "cadet" who passed out from Kreigsschule (military school) and went for a four month course at Truppentschule (Arm of Service School), or military academy (Medical, Veterinary or Engineering).
Rank Oberfähnrich was for the "cadet" who passed out from the Truppentschule (Arm of Service School), or alternately, having passed the Final Professional Examination of a military academy (Medical, Veterinary or Engineering) and serving a probationary period of two months in a field unit before commissioning.
Easy and simple. What about after 30.01.1940 when the growing need for officers in the Army meant that senior NCOs could now become officer candidates, in addition to officer candidates selected before joining the Army.
How was the system in this case, what ranks did they use, what schools did they attend, how long?
Thanks ahead for the answers!
