    interesting DAK wehrpass

i was lucky enough to be online in the paper section of the e-stand when this was listed,i didnt really know much about this unit untill i researched it more after i received the WP-the 999 leichte Africa division was one of the german armys penal units, most of its personel were minor political offenders and criminals, this man served in russia prior to being transferred to this unit so im guessing he was not a criminal,mt source of info stated that the officers and NCO's were hand picked experianced men ,but this guy wasnt a officer or NCO,maybe they transfered some EM's with combat experiance?was it possible he got in trouble and was transferred to a penal unit for punishment?either way the unit was only in afrika for 2 months before surrendering (some units from the division never made it there)

FYI the bottom 2 units are afrika shutzen rgt 962 and pioner btl 999

A piece of useless information for you, Germany supposedly adopted "999" as the number for their penal units because that was the telephone number for Scotland Yard in London at that time.

    Cheers

yes, congrats on that Yancy. You got a great deal. The seller let that one go really cheap.
It was worth a couple hundred more for that book easy.

Interesting how it read his afrika service as being"mediterranean coastal defence".
