    Career Guard

    Hi,

Here is another career guard. WP is in pretty rough shape but has a great selection of KL entries, starting in'41.

Thanks G. Hanson for sharing your KL wp with us.

It is shame that is condition is so poor but never the less a good example.
Did he participated in the mai 40 campagne?
Just curious did this wp come in your collection after the second half of the 90's?

          Greetings Peter

            Hi Peter,

Unfortunately, the dates in the WP have suffered a great deal from water damage but I do believe he took part in the May 1940 campaign. He enlisted with the 9. SS Totenkopf Infantry Regiment in November 1939 and returned to civilian life in August 1940. In May 1941, he enlisted again and after a short spell with the SS T.Inf Replacement Battalion, he was transfered to Mauthausen. The dates of KL service are:

            10/06/41 - 18/01/42 Mauthausen
            19/01/42 - ??/11/42 3. Komp Mauthausen
??/11/42 - 07/04/43 Sachsenhausen (Promoted to SS Oberschutze)
            08/04/43 - 14/12/43 Neuengamme (Promoted to SS.Sturm.d.R)
            15/12/43 - 15/02/44 Trawniki
            16/02/44 - 27/02/44 Lublin
            28/02/44 - 30/09/44 Buchenwald
            01/10/44 - 31/12/44 Mittlebau
            01/01/45 - ???????? (Unreadable)

To me the most interesting part of the WP is the 'Trawniki' entry followed by 'Lublin'. My personal opinion is that he was sent to Trawniki to undertake specific training relevant to his KL service, after which he practised these newly learnt skills at 'Lublin' before being sent back into the KL system proper.

This WP came into my collection about 4 years ago.

I attempted to use digital imageing to see if I could enhance the photograph of the holder, but unfortunately this did not work. Although it is in very bad condition, it is one of my favourite KL Wehrpasses.

            I set out to get either Soldbuch or Wehrpass that had entries for the main KL's in Germany and Poland. I am nearly there now, with just the following entries to go;
Ravensbruck, Flossenburg, Bergen-Belsen, Gross-Rosen and Stuthof.

Heres another favourite. A Wehrmacht member transfered to KL guard service in Dachau, who eventually ended up being imprisoned there himself.

Here's another nice one for a young guard who served at Mauthausen & Lublin. Died of Typhus in Lublin 15/03/44. Also contains signature of Mauthausen Commandant.
