Thank you Rob. No problem. I liked only to know if stamps of control were present.

    Cordial greetings.

Just a good tip for new collectors: remember that if a WP comes with a "sachsenhausen" conection it is therefore not always a fake but not rare or scarce either!!! Consider that when you spend your money on such a WP!

        Hello,

To complete the n° #66 of this thread, here is some images of this WP attributed to a Slovak volunteer.

Interesting detail : photo in uniform with Totenkopf and stamp of the KL Mauthausen.

This document was damaged by the humidity because there was with the group a document of the 6. Kp. of the SS Freiw. Gren. Rgt. 86 of the 32. SS Division 30 Januar found in a buried box.

        Cordial greetings.

Just for Chris: enclosed a copy of a diploma KVK 2. Kl.
attributed by Himmler (Feld-Kommandostelle, 1st Mdle). Date : in January, 1944. Document being in my archives, source Internet.

            Cordial greetings.

Thank you, but I think the point I am trying to make is.... a KVK can be awarded on the homefront and there are numerous Himmler signed ones around... a EK2 is a combat award and hitler was no combat commander at this stage of the war.

And the point... if he got eh soilver wound in 43... he got the EK2 then as well, technically. I would like to see the wound entries.

                Hello,
Also in the second part of the 90's I saw on the militaria-fairs in Belgium a bunch of dodgy KL-Auschwitz related wp & sb's. In the wp's the Auschwitz citation was made only with pencil or a dodgy stamp and no history about the soldiers prior service, similar to the one were this thread was started with. There was also a more falsely sb: an early ss-division nord (I believe ss infanterie regiment 6 but I'am not sure anymore) member who got in an accident in late 1940's or early 1941 and was hospitalised in Auschwitz (there was a army fieldhospital in the Auschwitz area) for his final discharge. The discharge citation was signed by "Mengele". But Mengele only arrived in Auschwitz mai 1943 almost 2 or 3 years after he signed the discharge citation!!!! This sb had nothing to do with the KL-Auschwitz but was sold as a guard anyway!!!
There was no picture in the sb either, what is normal because he was out off service before pictures came in to sb's.
This examples must still be out there in collections worldwide.

                  Hello,

When we are talking about KL-guards, the most of us think they are all involved in torturing and executing inmates on the same level. This is far from the truth!
For example: in the extermination camp of Sobibor the guard duty was done by Ukrainian volunteers, the actual extermination of the jews was done by a very small group of insiders from the ss.
In the big KL's like Auschwitz, Buchenwald, ...etc. most of the manpower was used for guarding the fence and not to forget the man the hugh administrations of these camps only a small mojority was involved in the extermination and torture of the inmates.

To be sure what the guards job was in the KL-system you need to check the post-war lists of members that are convicted or wanted for crimes against humanity and/or read books about the camp you are researching, the notorioues guards and there actions are mentioned in them!

You need to consider these historical facts when you want to purchase an item involved with a KL, the actual value of your item depends on it.

Great attitude... productive and positive It's very hard to make out what you are trying to say, but it sounds like you've got some books you want to share. How about posting some pictures of them?

thank you rob but you seem to have no problem in emailing me to sell you a SS WP.

I don't remember sending you an email about buying a WP (I typically only collect Soldbücher) but perhaps we discussed a WP via PM? I send and receive several a day so it's very easy to lose track.

I didn't know you were asking someone to post pictures for you. An association membership is a great idea if you are looking to help contribute to and participate in discussions here. It's just a few bucks and you can only benefit from joining.

If you have pictures I'd be happy to host them for you.
