    WWI MPs and SBs

I asked this on another thread with no joy...

I'm trying to make sure I understand these correctly. In WWI, could someone tell me how the MP and SB were used?

Which one was carried on the soldier's person? Where was the other one kept? What is the reason for the differences in the information contained in each? While NCOs and soldiers had MPs and SBs, did Officiers only have SB? Did they carry any other forms of identification?

    thanks in advance...

I am not 100% but I will tray and help-----To the best of my knowledge, MP's were held/carried by the units commanding officer to record ---record of service/actions, while the SB was a "pay-book" carried by the soldier himself. Hope this helps a bit.
