Qualification for the Anti Partisan Badge?

I have a question about the Anti Partisan Badge. Could the award be retroactive? Those this document shows, Unteroffizier Paul Schöllig was involved in battles against Partisans in Russia (perhaps only as support), but as with the Nahkampfspange, were actions even taken into consideration retroactively?

Simple question, but perhaps we can start an interesting conversation? Let's see some documents! Papierkrieg(er)!

      Hi Erich,

I have just had a quick look through some of my documents and have about 15 that have action with partisans but this was from an index list I have....I will check exactly how it is worded in the documents and see if there is any significance with how the action is written!!

The following I have posted before but the images are no longer on the thread. This is the Soldbuch of an Oberwachtmeister who served with SS Polizei Schützen Regiment 33 in the Ukraine as part of Kampfgruppe Prützmann, March 1944 his unit was absorbed into SS Polizei Regiment 10 in the Ukraine, Galicia, and Slovenia.

The first image shows the combat engagement page from his Soldbuch. There are numerous entries for anti partisan warfare also assault and close combat days!

The award of the Bandenkampfabzeichen was introducted 30.1.1944. As can be seen from the above lists by that date he already had amassed 27 days counting for the award!!!
              So the award was retroactive.

What is the difference between your example and mine appears to be the wording but it effectivly means the same thing!
              "Bandenbekämpfung" or "Kämpf mit Banden".
Maybe your man, as you say was in a support role and as such did not qualify.....or maybe he did qualify for "Bandenkampftage" but had insufficient for the award to be rendered!

Finally a picture of the recipient........

              /Ian

Heres another example to a member of Panzerjäger Abteilung 171, 71 Infanterie Division.

From 20.9.1943-11.1.1944 "Bandenbekämfpung". There is no mention of the award of the Bandenkampf Abzeichen and I do know that the Wehrpaß owner did not receive the award, however whether he had amassed any days for the award is unclear.....perhaps he did!?!?!?!

                  Bandenkampfabzeichen

                  Hello to all,

                  Erich,

Interesting Wehrpass. I was always interested in the troops of occupation of the islands of the Aegean Sea. I possess among another one a Soldbuch Sturmdivision Rhodos.

With regard to the allocation of the badge of the Bandenkampf, it seems to me that it is retroactive until January 1, 1943 ( to confirm). This as far as the days of fight against the partisans are indexed officially by the unity to which the soldier belongs.

                  Gringos Ian ;-))

Magnificent Soldbuch Polizei containing numerous registrations. To continue to illustrate the subject, here is two images of a Soldbuch Polizei attributed to a man of the Pol Rgt 4. In spite of the long list representing in his Soldbuch, this soldier did not receive any decoration.

                  Cordial greetings.

                  Polux

                      Bandenkampfabzeichen

To end and to illustrate this little common decoration, here is an example of the diploma Bandenkampfabzeichen, version bronze, attributed to a man of the Pol. Schtz. Rgt. 31

An image of this diploma will be sent to the column Awards documents, Photos and Paper items forum

                        Hello again Polux:

I have the Wehrpass and Soldbuch to Paul Schoellig Strm. Division Rhodos. It is a nice set, but no 'war hero'. I will post more if you are interested.

I would be very interested to see the Wehrpass and the Soldbuch Sturmdivision Rhodos.

Very nice Soldbuch there Polux !

I do like Polizei Soldbücher but many around are just "normal" with not many entries. Surprised your man did not get any awards with such an extensive list of combat!

I do have some material in period "Verwaltungs" books regarding this award and will try and find it.....

                            /Ian

What is the list on the right hand page of the Polizei Soldbuch numbering 1-32?
