I would say it is Pz.Art.Rgt. 75 as that was also part of 3 Pz.Div....
I saw the Art. connection on page 17 under Ersatz Truppenteil!!!

Incidentally, Panzer Grenadiers mounted in half tracks did wear, and were authorised to wear, field grey wrappers albeit with litzen.

Gary ,only fieldgrey wrappers?cos that one is wearin black panzer one.But cos wen he took the foto he was still with the panzer artillery as the waffenfarbe on the black wrapper looks darker(red id say) than normal pink panzer no?

I disagree - I think the wrapper is field grey. His tie is black.

                  Nice Soldbuch Doug.

A late-war soldier. For some reason he was transfered to the PzGrenadiers. Wearing a black panzer wrapper in what was essentially a motorized infantry company would not have been the smartest tactical uniform to wear when everyone else would have worn field gray. Stranger things were done though.

As he was prior PzArtillerie will go with the uniform as a darker gray wrap.

Perhaps Doug can show a larger scan of the photo?

I also thing it is grey and that is why I referred to it as a Stug wrapper...

With that said he was Pz.Art.Rgt. 75 which would explain why he is wearing what he is!

                    /Ian

You can't compare other photos - each photo depends on the exposure level used.

However it is obvious that the tie is much darker than the wrapper. If the wrapper is black what does that make the tie?

The wrapper is dark field grey.

That's a gray wrap with red litzen.

i agree with red waffenfarbe...still not sure aboput the gray cos the gray ones are ,IMO,much lighter than that and i know perfectly it depends on light exposure during the foto.....hmmmmm
