    Survivors I.D.'s

I aquired some interesting (at least to me) items and thought I would post them. They are not military I.D.'s but this seemed the closest forum for them.

    First is this passport.

Somehow in 1939 Ilse's passport allowed her to travel in AND out of germany!

So I believe Ilse's parents had to make an agonizing decision. In 1939 I believe England allowed jewish childeren to immigrate and that whas the last the reich allowed out, but the parents had to stay behind for an ambiguous fate at best. Anyhow, Ilse was allowed into Harwich and the passport was found in Los Angeles with other survivor docs so I think it is safe to say that Ilse survived but I have my doubts about her parents. Most likely the last time she ever saw them was when she boarded the ship for Britain.

This also came with it. It seems to be a generalized report card so she could continue her education in her new life. I don't know if this was issued by a Jewish school or a sympathetic German school, but it seems to be aimed at helping her along in her future.

What seems confusing is that Volksschule along with the official swastika stamp would indicate a regular german school, but in the subject of "religion" her marks were "gut". Wouldn't her religion have been Judiasm?

                Hello Sal,

                Very nice set!

Religion has nothing to do with the girls own religion. It is the subject of her study.

                Best,
                Erich

Hi Sal, nice items and something that is not often seen.

                  Cheers, Ade.

yes, very nice. Also notice the middle name 'Sara' added to the passport along with writing on the red J.. Probably both done to make sure nothing was done to the passport to mask her as being Jewish...
Her family must have had some serious money to get her to England..A very lucky little girl....

                      Hello:
by the then prevailing laws persons being considered Jews were to list as their names (middle) "Sara" for females and "Israel" for males as manifested in the shown documents.
The grade report shown is for completing the minimum 8 years gradeschool requirement, mandatory for all children in Germany at the time. The school she attended does not seem any other than a regular gradeschool.

                        Thanks for all your replies!
I was going to post up some more of the stuff I got but ran out of time. Here are a few more things I got in this batch of stuff.

Something I have never seen or heard of before. Evidently just post war these "Victim of faschism" cards with a KZ logo were issues to survivors of the concentration camps, but for what purpose I haven't a clue. perhaps for health care of food rations or something?

These are only a single opening ID book (no actual pages).

I also got this little document for Anna dated 1948. No idea what it is for though.
