    Any idea...

    ...what this says?

I think it's related to the Leutnant promotion (itself RDA backdated to 1.04.1943 elsewhere in the WP). The last five letters are igung if thats any help!

Same wehrpass. The top entry is student. Am I correct in thinking the bottom one is pastor? Or have I got it completely wrong?

        First entry looks like Berechtigung.

It certainly looks like Pastor!!! I have a couple of Pastor's so I will check how they are written..........

Ta. I was almost there...the 'rec' beat me. Any ideas as to why he would have been been entitled since 1.4.37? Is it related to a pension? He wasn't even registered until February 1940.

I was pretty sure it was pastor...but thought I might have it wrong as it's one bizarre conscription policy. Recruiting pastors and then sticking them in an infantry unit as a private.

Is the use of pastor instead of pfarrer linked to the religion? My man was a Lutheran.

Does seem a bit odd back dating so far!!! Was he killed or something?
I thought those that had prewar back dated entries were profesional soldiers.....

Regarding the Pastor/Pfarrer, the ones I have are both Catholic and Protestant/Evangelist it doesn't seem to make a difference.
However in English it does seem to make a difference:
If a Catholic Pfarrer it means Priest, if Protestant it could mean Pastor, Rector or Parson, also Minisiter (more Methodist!!).

Even a Katholisch Wehrmachtpfarrer I have was a civilian Pfarrer...mind you not sure what sort! Originally I thought it said R******246;m.Kath. Pfarrer but now I see it does not!!??

              /Ian

Apart from the 1.4.37 and pastor entry it's a relatively standard WP. not even KIA.

There some scans on there somewhere but nothing particularly interesting...
