My first soldbuch - help needed

    Hi

I have received a whole bunch of documents and papers for a Czech born soldier in the Heer including his Soldbuch.

I have been trying to decipher the awards section. Some of the writing is feint, stamps obscure other bits and my German is awful! He received an EKII and the next page he was awarded a black wound badge. Apart from that, he is a bit of a mystery.

There is a fair amount of documents, including his discharge papers and I would be happy to share them with anybody if they are interested

If anybody can help then it would be really appreciated.

    All the best

    Raymond

    Infanterie Sturmabzeichen

    Cheers

Of course. Anything in particular from the soldbuch?

Here is the other page from the awards section. His last award was the silver wound badge. Judging by the discharge papers, that was the end of the war for him after he received the injury.

There was also this certificate in the lots of papers and I am unsure what it is. I have sized it down and so it has lost clarity, but some of you may know what it is from the design. I thought it may be some form of certificate of adopted Germanic status.

It's a Volksschule (elementary school) completion certificate. I don't remember the German schooling system, but I believe that "elementary school" is the equivalent of 8th grade, grammar school, in the US. I seem to recall that after grammar school there is hochschule (as I recall, for those who will not go to university they stop here and then go into a trade), Abatur (college prep?), and University.

However, during the 1930s-40s, "hochschule" might have had a more important meaning than "high school" -- and might have been harder to attain; I know for a fact that in Japan at that period, what is translated as "high school" really was the equivalent of pre-university/university.

                    Cheers,
                    Guy

                      Thanks Guy for the info.

Another piece of paper that I can now identify.

                      Cheers
