    help needed

    Hi all,
can any of you give me a bit of help on how to go about finding out more about the original owners of some of the soldbuch's paperwork and wehpass' that I have collected over the years.
I have always been interested in the fighting soldier, but have limited my research to insignia and uniforms as I cannot speak or read german.
I often wonder how the soldier who owned these pass's and books faired during and if they survived the war!
please keep answers basic, remember I am a novice.
    Thanks in advance
    Gary

        Help

        Gary,

Below I have listed two links, the first for Wehrpas and the second for Soldbuchs. These sites will at a minimum make you more familiar with the contents, page by page, of your Wehrpas and Soldbucher. Once you have gained a bit more understanding of contents you will be able to narrow your questions to more specific questions.

Collecting papers and specially Soldbuch and Wehrpass is boring and no reward after hard reseach, change your interest to daggers or helmets and no interest in this advice

Well seriously, make all inquires you need and remember only silly question is the one you never ask.

Put images of your pieces and we will help you to understand what you have and so you can have a clear and complete image of what your soldier did and what happen to him.

This thread will help you if you are trying to trace a particular person. Like your SS one, he was listed on the War Graves page.....the others are archival searches which have an administration fee.

                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=64548

Otherwise post your questions on the forum...not a whole Soldbuch or Wehrpaß at once but those areas that you are stuck with and we can take it from there!

                Regards,
                Ian
