    polizei-ss soldbuch

hello all,I need some help. I have just brought a group of documents to a polizei man, although I believe he was not ss-polizei he has a ss-soldbuch, is this normal? on inspection it seems slightly different from ss solbuchs I have owned in the past. I cannot post any images at present as not sent yet but have any members come accross this before, thanks for your help in advance.

All the Polizei were controlled by the SS. There are two standard types of Polizei Soldb******252;cher. One is green with the Polizei eagel and the other is cream color with the SS runes printed on the cover.

      Hello Jeff,

As a collector of polizei myself, I do have a question.

Do you also know why there are two kind of soldbucher for the polizei? Why was one man get the one with the polizei eagle and the other one the one with the SS runes?

Has this to do with the police batailjons?

      Best regards,
      Erich

To be honest, I don't know. The SS u. Polizei regulations just explain there are two types but not why one is used over the other. I have both types of Soldb******252;cher, being used by Polizei Rgt.

I beleive it was something to do with all Polizei units coming under Himmler and taking over command of all these units thus issuing them with SS Soldb******252;cher.....all the latter style are from late 1944. Prior to this I beleive they were under a different element of SS control.

The same happend with Abwehr when they passed from Canaris? control over to SS.......

I have something somewhere on the issue of the "new" Soldbuch. Obviously prior to this they had the green Polizei Soldbuch.

I could be completely wrong however as I can not remember.....more later when I find the info........

                    Hi,
The green polizei soldbuch with police eagle on the cover is introduced in january 1943.
In june 1944 the SS-type soldbuch becomes the standard issue.
Often on the Polizei issue SS-type solbuchs the Runes are erased; sometimes replaced by a stamped or handwritten word "Polizei".

check my website www.germanpolice.org for pictures (under section documents/identification)

                        Hello Gary,

Below is a set of documents to one individual. The plain cover Soldbuch is the one that is found with the sigrunen on the cover. I know the dates overlap and I will have to pull them and see exactly.

                            nice group Dave,
the soldbuch I have still has runes to front but are
slightly different to ss soldbuchs I have had.
I understand now, not an error but correct supply.

                              Thanks Gary.

It was officially decreed in June 1944 that the Soldbuch of the Waffen-SS was to be introduced as the official identity document for all members of the ORPO. The book finally issued was a variation of the Waffen-SS Soldbuch.

I’ll have to dig out my examples and take a picture as they reflect several variations of e what is found on the cover.
