KM Erkennungsmarke deciphering - help needed

    Hello,

Any help on identifying two encoded tags would be very welcome. They were both found near Gdynia, PL (former KM naval base Gotenhafen). I wonder if one of these might have belonged to a soldier of Marine-Flugmelde-Abteilung?

Heh, looks like these two were found at Lezyce? :-)
Can't say much about the second tag, but the first looks like belonging to some Marine Artillerie soldier enlisted in 1941.
    Pozdrawiam
    Al

You're pretty smart The latter is said to be found really near Lezyce, but I know, that there were M.Flum.Abt. non-encoded tags dug, too. And the first example comes from the outskirts of Gdynia-city.

Thank you, and I'm waiting for any further details.

        O.16957/41E:
Marine Station Ostsee stammrollnummer 16957 enrolled 1941 Erganzungs-Marineartillerist

        O.74557M
Marine Station Ostsee stammrollnummer 74557 usually M on earlier tags stands for Mobilisiert, but could also mean the ship type is mine sweeper (minensuchboot), depending on the actual issue date/place etc. This could probably be determined from the stammrollnummer compared to other known examples. however because the rollnummer is so high I'd lean towards Mobilization.

Thank you, Legionitalia. Do you, or someone else, know what would letter "S" instead of "E" mean?

            Sure glad to help.

S suffix is Flottendienst, Luftbahnen I-XII, XIV and XV.

on earlier tags (pre 1936) it stands for Seemannisches personal.
