        A very nice one, Bear Can you mail me the photo of this guy ? It would be nice to put it on the u-boat photo album database as i do with my u-856 crew member.

          Page 3, 36 and 37 bear the signature of Oberleutnant zur See Johann de Buhr. He was the Kommandant of U-347.
          An entry on page 23 puts him with the 8 U-Flottille on 7.7.1943, this was a training fleet and puts him with U-347 from the start. Also I see a stamp for 6 K.L.A. on page 26(?) which is the construction unit that commissioned U-347.
          It took part in 5 partols of which none seemed very successful and/or lengthy! This probably is the reason why he does not have a U-Boat Badge.

          U-72 was a training boat under 21 U-Flottille.

          Also page 36 bears signatures of U-72 Kommandanten:

          Kapitänleutnant Waldemer Mehl (DKiG 19.11.43, RK 28.03.44 U-371), Oberleutnant zur See Hans-Martin Scheibe and Helmut Lange.
