    Hi All
I have had this Knight's Cross in my collection for many years. It is heavilly damaged. It looks like someone at some point in time took a hammer to it.It is marked L/12 and 800 on the cross and also 800 on the suspension ring,It also has the cross hatching that is attributed to Juncker pieces and I do believe it to be 100% Good. It has the proper weight for a Juncker and the Swaz is level with the beading like it should be. I would like a few opinions.

I acquired it from a long time friend who had bought it from a small museum that had closed due to lack of funding. We have no idea what happened to it but it is a shame.

                    Cheers Steve

I'll bet someone ran it over with a jeep in May '45.

I wonder how many badges were torn off surrendering troops and stepped on or smashed in front of them.

I like it it has a certain attractiveness to it. My uncle had a ring he took from a German. He was riding on the back of a Sherman tank and it fell and was run over by another tank he found it again and kept it. My Cousin now has it.Maybe this was run over.

I would bet money Tim has it spot on.

Obviously not natural wear, I too would suggest that at some time since '45, someone has taken a rifle butt or hammer to that thing in order to make a point.

Nice - in its own way..

Despite that, we can still enjoy and wonder over this award today. It shows the high quality German awards had at the time. They were made to last.

                              Cheers
