What's up with this EK 2 ribbon?

I've seen red, orange, and in-between, but what's up with this one? One more piece of the grouping I picked up today, it's on an unmarked K&Q EK 2 (the original EK 2 packet is still w/group).

Opinions appreciated, thanks in advance. Oh, yeah, I don't have a blacklight, so can't check that....

Have you looked at it with a loupe? Do those appear to be actual yellow threads?

They seem to be. As can be seen, they run the full length of their "rows". It's not a full length ribbon, but maybe 6 inches, give or take a bit. I can do a larger scan of it tonight if that might help.

Nice original ribbon!. The dye lots of thread batches can vary in durability. The yellow threads were originally orange-red which have lost their red based color through poor dye retention. It is not unusual to find Knight's Cross ribbon with the same yellow color characteristics.
