    Wiederholungsspange 2nd Class -> original?

    Hi there, I would be very interested in your opinion on this 1939 Repeat Clasp 2nd Class. It has no maker marks as far as I can tell. Thank you in advance for your help and your opinion. On the photo it looks like the right hand side wing is a little shorter and lower than the other, but is not...the Adler was just lying at an angle, when I took the photo. Cheers, Torsten.

    reverse. Pins are all separate, i.e. there are four individual ones.

      I'm by no means an expert, but what strikes out of this clasp is the eagles head. I can't find a match in my archives for it. I'm not saying it's a fake, but I've never seen one quite like that before.

        I think you are right.
        Looks wrong, but I have been mistaken before!
        I think I would let this one pass.

          Thank you very much for your input. I am thinking pretty much exactly the same...I will try and do better pics of the head when I get home tonight...but lighting will be bad ... I have of course also looked through all the other threads about this topic that I could find on the forum and I did not see a single one that could be comparable to this one..be it fake or original?? Would anyone be aware of a reverence book that cover these clasps adequately and where to purchase it???...thanks again for your help...Cheers, Torsten.

            I have finally had a chance to take close ups of the front and back of the head...on closer inspection the beak almost looks like it has been filed off or cut off or something like that Hope you can Cheers and thanks again, Torsten.

                Unfortunately, these pics just confirm what I said earlier. I have never seen an original clasp with the eagles head and beak styled like that. But there are guys here that have seen far more clasps than I have. Perhaps they could give an opinion.

                That finishing on the beak does look rather crude, yeah.

                  thank you very much for looking at the pics. I also hope that something recognising this for what it is will have a look at the pics and let us know one way or another...Thanks again. Cheers, Torsten.

                    Do a search on B H Mayer 2nd class spanges. I think you will find that yours compares quite well with the shape of head. I wouldn't write this off as bad just yet.

                      Patrick, thank you very much. You would not by any chance have sample images of that type? I will start searching for it right now... Cheers, Torsten.

                        I think PatrickĀ“s BH Mayer lead is correct.

                              Wow, thank you very much everyone. It certainly does look like those, its just that the silver plating on mine appears to have gone missing completely...the beak and the little bridge under the beak 100% match with those sample images... and I was about to admit defeat and give up on mine being an original... Thank you, very, very much...Cheers, Torsten.

                              PS: I suppose it is a big NO-NO to consider getting it re-silvered??
