    A fine GCiG group

    Hello,

i know it s hard to compete these days with the highlights of the Schulz estate, but
i would like to show you this fine group which i could recently acquire. It s a very early awarded piece and together with the 2 Anerkennungsurkunden it makes it a bit special.

    Best regards

    Detlev

This is an extremly interesting group!
It is known that the very first order for 2000 German Crosses went to Deschler in September 1941 and that Deschler delivered in October 1941.
Robert-Georg von Malapert-Neufville was awarded his German Cross on 15 October 1941 and it is a believed that this was the very first type produced (why there is a date of 12.12.1941 engraved is unknown). See here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=960291

An award date of 24 October with a Six-Rivet Deschler makes me believ that the 10-rivet crosses were not part of the initial 2000 pieces but rather part of a very low number of pre-series types or even prototypes, awarded only to a very, very few soldiers!

        Very interesting!

Dietrich, when do you think Juncker entered in the market?

Thanks for all your nice comments. Is the official award date the 18th like stated on the Besitzzeugnis or would count the 24th?.
He got his cross awarded posthum, he died already in august. Maybe there is chance that his wehrpass will be found.

                    Best regards

                        Hi Stef,

that is a tough question which might be impossible to answer. It seems that the crosses with the Type 1 wreath were very early to show Dr. Doehle how they would do it in order to also get a piece of the pie. Only the ones with the Type 2 went into higher production later on.

The only thing that one can say for sure is that Juncker entered before the end of 1942 (introduction of PKZ numbers) since there are a lot of unmarked cross.
In the book "Die Verleihungsurkunden des Deutschen Kreuz in Gold" my friend Alexander von Renz shows a Junker Type 1 awarded on 23. November 1941 to Oberleutnant Neumüller. This could be one of the "prototypes", delivered in 1941.

As an (half-educated) guess I would say early 1942 in greater numbers.

                        I hope that helps!
