    Maria Schenkl EK2

    Hi guys,

I bought this Maria Schenkl EK2 yesterday at a small military show. Unfortunately the top of the packet is cut off, but it is definitely the type of packet that matches the Maria Schenkl, '27' marked, EK2. I had to laugh when I saw the reverse of the packet as some moron went and stamped SS runes on it. Still a rather nice matched set IMO.

    Best regards,
    Tom

            Brown packet

Tom, I have a packet exactly the same. (Without the SS stamp!) Are these packets only attributed to this maker? Many thanks!

For some reason a lot (maybe the majority) of this specific type of Schenkl packets have the flap cut off.

                  Hi Monty,

Yes! These packets will be marked either 'Anton Schenkl's Nachfolger' or 'Maria Schenkl', Maria Schenkl being the successor to Anton Schenkl. Unlike most packets, the maker marking was found on the packet flap rather than the lower left of the reverse. I have two other examples and the top of the packets are cut off just as this one is. IMO these were unissued production stockpiles that remained at the end of the war. My guess is that Maria Schenkl no longer wished to have her name associated with Nazi medals so the packet tops were cut off.

                  Best regards,
                  Tom
