Hell, the first thing the wife asked was, how much could I get for it??

About half way home, she looked at me and said, you wouldn't sell it, would you?? I told her no, and that I didn't think he would either. He'd be a fool to let that go. It was really a kick just to be able to examine it closely.

Sorry Dave, but WOW, it was cool.
Go back Jim and offer some more money, sell a kidney!!

My name is showing twice as well....strange

            Godet, Deschler, Schickle, three-quarter, Zimmermann, 800-4, 935-4

Could be in this order. You know what happens, you never see a certain medal or maker and that in one week 2 Zimmermann's.

I think S&L and especially 935-4 is one of the most beautiful Knight's crosses.

I agree - Jim, get a damn camera on this one! At worst you owe it to us to allow us to live vicariously through you. BTW - what is the guys phone number...

There are still a lot of old duffers out ther who haven't a clue about the Internet. That is our saving grace. If everyone knew then there would no longer be any bargins out there waiting to be found.

                    You are certianly right coastie

There are a few people who hate the internet and anything to do with it.They seem to think anyone on the internet is a freak of some kind. I know a few old fellas in my neck of the woods much the same only most of their good stuff is already gone.At the legion in my city they have a fun style antiques roadshow once a year and you would be surprised what some of them still have but wont sell because they promised it to their greedy childern. Just have to wait until they pass on and hopefully their offspring will sell.

                        Hi All,

Me thinks the guy is not so truthful. Why would he pay $6000 for the piece if he did not know prices? If he had not seen the internet, he would offer $ 500- 1000 or less.

Well, it was at a Militaria shop. And 6k isn't exactly a steal, nor a giveaway. Granted - it is a helluva deal! If the guy isn't really a TR guy, he'd know it'd be worth more than your usual EK 2, but maybe not it's 20 to 30 grand "actual" price.

                          Just my thoughts....

                              Gordon's book

                              Hi,
New guy here. Sorry!!! Anyway I am assuming that the Book by Gordon is good. Can you give me the title and who has it. Good luck on getting that cross. Don't die and not have one because of price. I am not rich but when I decide to get something I get it even if it is overpriced and my eyes bleed. Dumb, maybe, but how do you put a price on a rare piece that you will only see a few times in your lifetime. Example, years ago I was a class 3 weapons dealer. I had a lot of neat stuff pass thru my hands. Anyway I purchased a 1928A1 British proofed Thompson. At the time I paid 3k for it. Everyone was on me for paying to much. The going rate was considerably less. I wanted that gun. A few years later I sold it for $4400.00 and the guy screamed like I stuck him. He still owns it and it is worth 12-15K now. He is not screaming now. Now does this work every time, absolutely not. But I have found that rare nice pieces rarely go down in value. Wait awhile and they will go up eventually. But the best part of it is you have that rare piece that you always wanted. By the way I transferred a MG34 for a guy in the late 80's. He paid 4K for the gun, mount and optic. At the SOS show recently a guy paid 35K just for the gun. Anyway I am rambling on now but buy the darn cross. Block his door until he sells it. Make him an offer he can't refuse. IMO.
                              Thanks guys,
                              Colonel1
