What awards does this pilot have besides the Iron Cross 2nd class?

Hi Tod,

I assume that text is from a German death remembrance card. The text reads that he was a pilot and holder of the Iron Cross Second Class and various other decorations. Since he was a pilot I'm sure he had a Pilot Badge, but there is no way of knowing for sure what his other decorations were based on that vague text. Although since the text specifically mentions the Iron Cross Second Class, we can assume that was his most prestigious decoration. In other words, he was not a holder of the Iron Cross First Class, German Cross in Gold, or Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross.

So when it says, EK. II. KI. is the third abbreviation Kl. for "Klasse" or for some other award as "KI."

Yes! IMO that would be Kl. for Klasse.

Yes, Tom is right on both accounts. He could have also been a recipient of a flight clasp given that he was a pilot and EK2 winner. It really depends on a lot of factors, including when the card is from.

Another reference to other awards could be a KVK2, Czech Medal, DRL or Sports Badge, or Long Service medal. It really can be a number of things.
