    War Merit Cross 1st Class W/swords

    Help,I have been offered this War Merit Cross,but I dont know much about medals,is this good or bad,its marked L/58 on the pin(i think thats a bad sign since a lot of the copys are marked L/58)the pin are thin,not as wide as those i
    have seen,so please let me know what you think.

        I would say it is a copy, but wait for the more experinced collectors.

        Perhaps Laurence Strong have something to say about this one

          Hi,

          L/58 is copys and L58 is original markings for Souval if i remember it right.

          Please correct me if i am wrong here

                Jorn,

                I would tend to agree. It appears to be more like a '57 version. Which isnt necessarily bad if thats what your collecting. But not good if you are wanting WW2 era. Here is the reverse of a '57 (not an L/58 but you can compare the reverse setup):
