EK1 Altered

Hi, recently purchased cased EK1 on evilbay. I am a new collector and wonder two things:

1)What is ~value of a cased EK1 - how much should I have paid
2)It looks like the previous owner tried to cover up some paint chipping with a black pen, what does this do to the value?

I am likely to return it. Hopefully will have pics for you soon. The EK1 is unmarked but I am quite sure it is real. The case is D&B.
