    Oaks/Swords Jewellers copies

    Are period jeweller's copies colectable? There's a set on ebay, not that I trust anything on e-bay! at the attched link
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW

    My questions are;
    Are these amperiod piece?
    How collectable are they?

    Cheers

    I don't think I would even call this a Jewelers copy. It looks cast and the swords should be double-sided instead of single sided the sword hilts shouldn't be touching the oak leavesto me that is a post war era piece. In that condition 50 pds. is even too much for this one.

    As far a Jeweler copies as collectable, it depends. Do you want a piece to display? if so it would be okay, but unless you have provenance of a RK winner who wore one. I don't think Jewelers were allowed to make them (could be wrong on that point) it would be worth only what you paid for it which shouldn't be much at all and not used as an investment piece.

      Coastie,

      They look pretty similar to those on page 409 in Gordons book, they have the swords touching the oaks, with the sword hilts being single sided. Any other opinions?

        Look on page 462 it more closely resembles a S&L 1957 copy with the 8 dots on the hilts as opposed to the 7 dots.
