    Cased EK1

    Hello,
I wanted to see if anyone here could identify the maker of this cased EK1 I saw today. It came from an estate and is owned by a young man who is very happy to have his first iron cross. I know the case is good, but I'm not expert enough to verify the maker of the cross. Can you help me out as I promised him I would do my best?
    Thank you,
    Dale

I would say the cross is a Rudolf Souval. The case looks ok also.

Souval frame with a nice fat swas and dipping 3. Die flaw is also clearly evident on the 12 o'clock arm beading. Looks good to me.

                Regards,
                Stu

                  Hey Dale,

Nice RS and not a bad domed case either

Sorry...it is a Souval that can be postwar...the flake paint is like other Souval blank crosses, there is the scratch in the pin, and the core and setup are very late war or postwar types...

It does not mean it is postwar,RS made postwar crosses but there is nothing on that cross that proves that!

                        I agree.

                          Hi Dale,

I agree with Ken, Ross, and Stu. A good Souval EK1 and case.

                          Best regards,
                          Tom

Thanks guys, the young man will be glad to hear this. The cross came with an EK2 and both were packed in a case at an estate that they bought ammunition from. Unfortunately they didn't get the name of the estate's owner nor any story to go with the items. He and his father will be glad to know that they did well.
