Opinions wanted on EKI and Spangen

I would be grateful for opinions on this EKI and Spangen, and attach some pics.
    Thanks,
    Peter

          Hi Peter

Wait for other opinions to be sure but IMO the spange is definitely a repro of the unknown maker (often attibuted to Schmidthaussler) EK 1 spange: the additional line on the lower legs of the eagle gives it away as a copy (see attached pict of original). No idea if the EK1 1914 is good or not but it becomes somewhat of a moot issue if the spange is bad

The cross is bad also. Large crown / closed 4 fake with a bogus KO mark on it.

              Thanks Jean-Claude and gregM.
I see what you mean about the legs Jean-Claude, thanks for posting the pic of the original. What do you mean by closed 4 gregM?
              Thanks,
              Peter

Closed 4 and open 4 refer to the upper arms of the 4.
Most (not all) 1914 crosses use a 4 that is open at the top. There is a fake out
there that uses a overly large crown in conjunction with a closed 4 date. The one
posted is such a cross. Unfortunately, it copies a known original making it very
difficult to tell good from bad. In this case, the cross was maker marked with a KO stamp. KO never used the closed 4 style of core.

                      Thanks for explaining that Greg.
You did really well to detect the closed 4 from the pic.
                      Thanks,
                      Peter
