To me, reproduction and fake are synonymous in relation to the medal I posted. It is both.
I think the term "fantasy" may be what Byterock may mean - the creation of something that never existed in the war. Grand Crosses certainly did, and more than one.
I do not own the cross, and posted what pictures I did have to make a record of the markings.

Could you please post some additional closeups of the L/21 GC?
Thanks.

The easiest way is the size. Is your example 63mm, instead of 48mm?

John has posted three different crosses from a larger group of crosses sold at an auction.
The reproduction Grand Cross, marked L/21, had no ring, ribbon, or box.
The Knight's Cross with ring and ribbon is a micro 800, had a box, and is an original. It is the one he shows with the bright swastika and is complete.
The last medal he shows in the box is a reproduction Knight's Cross, marked 800 and L/12, that is missing the ring. It had a box.
Easy to get the mixed up, there were about eight or nine crosses is a eclectic collection of militaria that had a mix of good and bad.
Here's the lots with the cased micro 800 and the Grand Cross.
