    L/21 Grand Cross

    Hello,

I have not seen this form of fakers marking Grand Crosses, but present it to add to our collective knowledge. Looks like L/21 to me, but I'll bet this cross has never been near Godet's presses!

    regards, Robert

It does not look good, I'm afraid...

Thank you, I agree. I am posting it so we have another fraudulent marking scheme available as a reference resource.

          regards, Robert

            Bids the question,

Is it a 'Fake' when every one knows it is a 'reproduction'??

In this case I would say 'Fake' as it trying to deceive what it really is.

              L/21 is not Godet.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. This is a reproduction, or a fake, of a Grand Cross with incused makers marks, posted for anyone who runs into one in the future.

Looking through the forum examples, I did not see this marking convention so thought I'd post it for all to see - chances are, someone will run onto this type marking again.

                regards, Robert

How tall is the swaz? I'm looking at it on my phone and am wondering if it is a marked up Souval, but the photos aren't clear enough for me

I seem to have confused the issue, sorry.

I am not asking if it is a replica or original; I know it is a replica.

I could not find the L/21 incused markings on reproduction Grand Crosses on the forum, and posted the pictures so we have a good photo record of this particular breed of replica.

                      regards, Robert

Please try to take better photos of the L/21 and 800 markings.

The point I was trying (unsuccessfully i guess) is that every collector with even a little experience knows that 99999.999% of all Grand Crosses are not original. Hence the term 'reproduction' rather than 'fake'.

In this case as it is oddly marked perhaps it is trying to fool and thus a Fake

Please explain the difference between a fake and a reproduction.

Other companies made the GC for display purposes during the war. Are they fakes
                              or reproductions?
