    EK2 ribbon, UV+

Hi, recently i bought a UV lantern and i found that my EK2 ribbon glows. I burn some threads and it looks ok, it doesn´t make any balls.

    Here are some photos:

    What are your opinions?

    Thanks.

Even though the end loops look convincing - still incorrect ... so are the black threads and the stitching thread flow .

Be careful with uv tests. Some cloth items can have a glowing but often minor compared to modern cloth.

I expect that there should be some variation with the ribbons as well, very minor as well as with the glowing. Remember that there were several manufacturers using different machines and different suppliers of cloth.

I can name one company that produced ribbons until the 70's with original equipment and cloth. Production then moved to India due to being more economical.

Yes Schönbeck is correct : Some original ribbons show a very minor glow on the white - why this is I do not know .
Ribbons are an interesting part of awards and mostly overlooked . The variations are vast and a few types exist .

A few pictures of the study I am working on .
By themselves one does not notice the variations !

Rare type with visual markings - watermarks - light reflection .
                And 'construction' types .

                  Different color 'band' width :
Achieved by either more thread loops - or - different thickness of strands .
