    Yes indeed,His house in France was totally destroyed,his wife was in Germany at the time,he had an apartment there and its rumoured his awards resided there so they could still be around!

      i didn't know he had a apartment in germany so it is very possible that his awards are out there somewhere .only his wife could answer that or maybe other relatives might have information. .

                  Yes Tony his surviving relatives could hold the key

                  Its a tricky one,On the one hand you feel for him a little as he had in all fairness served his time given to him by a court of law for the war crimes he commited,however there is of course the stigma attached for life of the Waffen SS title he held (Standartenfuhrer i believe) although i could be proved wrong.He was sentenced to the 12 years for the crimes in Belgium (again i could be wrong) but there were people who came foward and said he was also involved in crimes in Italy but there was not enough evidence to support it!
