I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

But at least the evidence has been hidden and the cross can try to be passed off as original down the road.

                      Very pertinent question, Ludwig!

                          Nice.....real nice.

Why hide it? Why kill the links? The answer wasn't what you wanted? Now those of us who didn't see the original pix will never know, and therefore not learn from the thread.

I've seen this so often in doing research here. We all know 'why' someone deletes the reference photos. As stated, they didn't like the answers and want no evidence of the piece left for a potential buyer to find.

Why on earth doesn't management simply delete these useless threads and sanction the member?

I have issued an infraction yesterday together with the suggestion not to do it again. The problem is the use of an external server. Even if not erased by the poster, sooner or later the photos will disappear anyway. Photos posted at the WAF server cannot be erased by the poster after a short time and are therfore preserved.
The owner of the site was made aware of the situation more than 20 times but sees no need to change anything, meaning to allow only WAF posted photos.

What we members can do is copy the photos and repost them. That wil preserve the thread.

Erasing the thread will at this point only serve one purpose: to erase the name of the "offender." I don't want to do that.
