EK2 '24' 'Acorn'- Okay- But What About a 'Clover'?

    Hi Guys,

I actually stumbled across discussions of this 'acorn' and 'WB' that people have found to be on the cross loop of '24'- marked EK2s, and it just so happens that mine is a '24' too- however the small mark I found looks to me to be more like a clover- 4 distinctly separate 'leaf' shapes- has anyone seen this mark before? I've searched through the old threads on the 'acorn' phenomenon, but haven't found really any info, nor am I really clear on if this extra mark has any bearing on the desirability and therefore I suppose value of such a cross. Does it? I had been considering parting with this medal because I recently acquired another and know who the recipient was, but if my '24' 'clover' is not just another marked EK2, I will definitely hang on to it.

    Here's a picture:

    Thanks.

      Thanks Mikel

Here's maybe a better picture of the mark:

You can also just make out the '4' of the '24' on the suspension ring. What I'm really curious to know is whether or not there is good reason to keep this cross and if so, why- and what it might be worth in comparison to another marked EK2 would be nice to know too- but any comments would be appreciated.

      Thanks.

There are people who collect the "24" variants (I have three), but I don't think that they generally go for much more than any standard maker marked EK 2.

Have anyone checked the cores between these 24 crosses. Are they the same on all ? Could those small acorn/clov markings on the ring be subcontractor marks ?

                Cheers.

                  That's one of the theories.

                      Yup, it's very definitely a '24':

Okay, then what is a standard maker-marked EK2 worth these days?

Sorry Mikael- unless I know of a reason to keep it, I've already promised to sell it to a someone else.
