    Shinkel EKI

I've had this piece for some time and always liked it. However, the scarcity of these things has always made me wonder...

The cross has a low vault, and the beading around the edge is quite crisp and even all the way around, although the pics may not convey that very well.

    Comments appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hello,I believe that I am not eligible enough to make judgement, but the back pin and the way of hook solders to the medal seem quite strange to me.And I can't tell you why since I am still a newb in medal collecting,I wish that the
proficients in the fourm could help you more and rectify my mistakes.

        Best regards

            Herc,

Can you post a picture of the pin and hinge taken straight on? Both closed and open would be helpful. I am curious if it has a Meybauer type pin.

            Thanks,

            Tony

Here's one I took of the reverse, pin closed. I loaned my camera out so I can't provide a shot straight-on with the pin open just now; there's an oblique shot with the pin open earlier in the thread...

              Thanks for your help.

I'm going from memory here, but I have a feeling that 'serif' dates on Schinkelform EK1's (as opposed to EK2's, where it is commonplace) are not a good sign.

The only other one I have on file with 'balls' is a fake.

Regardless, the pin and clasp are giving me the heebies......

George has a nice one with a Meybauer (I think) pin, but the one above isn't the same.

In fact, it's far from the norm on Schinkels...
