Hey guys, Check this out if you don't mind. Piece is from a Picker in Germany. How do we tell the difference between a jewelers made cross and a standard firm?

So that brings me to my next question...were cases standardized even for jewelers?

There is no difference. A few makers were primarily jewelers, most were not. So for example a 137 marked EK2 is a "jeweler-made" EK2 because JH Werner was a famous jeweler, but a Deschler is not, because Deschler made no jewelry (that I know of).

Jewelers were in the business of making awards and decorations in Germany (and France, Austria, Luxembourg, etc.) because in centuries past a jeweler's skill was required:

              What a beautiful decoration!

As usual, when Trevor speaks, it's worth listening.
