    Iron Cross Rusting

Apart from a silica gel parcel next to my collection can anyone give me advice on an iron cross that I have that seems to be slightly rusting. Also, is there any way to protect the cross from further damage.

    Thanks

    Nick

      wax

You can also use "Renaissance wax" which will not leave a shine. This wax is used by museums to protect a lot of their items. Jim

The wax is a great idea. For major restoration Blue and Rust remover is ok for getting rid of rust before using another item to protect the piece, but for what you are describing this is the best way to go.

Renaissance Wax, formulated in the British Museum research labs, is the way to go.

Forgot to mention ... a little bit goes a long, long (did I mention long?) way. No need to get more than the small can and that will last you for some time and cover many awards.

Looks like I am going with the wax treatment, many thanks for the advice,
