DKG with dots in the year date

A while back we talked about DKG´s with dots/lines in the year date.
Some collectors found it to be a fake. Others think its original.

Look at this. Is there a connection ?

        Peter,

Personally I don't think there can be any connection. I have seen a good number of perfectly original type 1 wound badges that have these lines between the swaz arms to a greater or lesser extent. IMO there is no connection between this aspect and the badge being fake.

          WB with tracks

Info I have is that these "railway tracks" are well known in the first type 1939 issue of Wound Badges (though not as pronounced) Also they are not Condor Legion WB.

Thanks Peter and a good find but in no way even close to the most recent 'introduction'.....

Dietrich and others shut that fake down right away......Gosh, it seems strange that suddenly we haven't seen any more offered on the 'high end' sites

            There's a message here boys.....
            Regards,
            Dave

I would keep that guarantee around, as it's main function would be to send the damn thing back with the cross and get a piece without dots!

Or to present when you try and sell it!

                          Harry-

But who in their right mind would buy the dotted cross? I think the COA does not mean jack, as no collector familiar with DKiGs would buy it. The best bet is to get it back to the dealer who sold it and let them figure out what to do with it. $2100 for a "dotted" cross- I really think he should send it back for a non-dotted piece.

Because Harry is not a dealer and has no vested financial interest in the piece being real or fake, that is probably why. That piece of paper means nothing to anyone who collects DKiGs, as they will evaluate the piece, not the piece of paper. I would not care if Jesus Christ came to earth and declared them real- they do not correspond to the characteristics of known original pieces.

Darrel, if you have a guarantee, unload this thing as it is not worth your time owning. Turn it back in and get a real one that you can examine and learn from. Part of the interest in this is comparing to known originals. If you are using a fake as a frame of reference, your conclusions with regard to other pieces will be incorrect.
