    buntmetal ? kvk1

Hi, what is buntmetal ? didn't find this word in my stupid digital dictionary.

Also, is it good or bad if a kvk1 mm4 is from buntmetal ? Does it worth more
    or less ?

    Thanks,

    Ran

      Hi Ran,

One of the German members can probably explain this better, but "buntmetal" is a bucket term for metal composition other than steel or zinc. Some people use it to encompass nickel-silver (neusilber), tombak and later war various white-metal or pot-metal alloys. Personally, I perfer to use a more specific term wherever appropriate.

In your case, a buntmetal (?nickel-silver) KVK indicates earlier construction from better quality basemetal and would be worth more than a zincer.

        Hi Mike,

Thank you very much, yeah the KVK I put my eye on is very expensive but
it looks very nice, I'll have to wait with it but preparing the ground for it or
        for something like that.

Also I'm very affraid from KVKs ( even though I just love them ), from what
I got with me I'm not sure . . . I'm gonna have to own at least 2 from each
kind to see that they are not reproduction. But I'm learning and starting to
get the "feel", from my little experience I can see that till I don't have the
piece in my hands I can never know, with all do respect to images, the real
        medals just have different characteristics.

        Thanks again,

        Ran

          Hi Ran,

here's a photo downloaded to show here, when I searched "Buntmetal", you can see the diff, the zinc is the dull one. Out of curiosity, how much is the KVK you are looking at?

Wow, it would have to be exceptional for that price, If that's US$, about 200 more than I would pay, but then thats my opinion, any photo's?

Oh, no worry, I'm not going to pay that much, either the seller will agree that
the price is too high or I'll find from another place. But it is very good
                quality.

No doubt, but that's the price I would expect to pay for a cased EK!

I see SO MANY cased EK1 in GOOD CONDITION for 400-425$, I think you can
find one for a better price, if you have a dealer that you are a good client of -
                    it can be done.

I just can't understand the prices of some of the items, it's not that they are
rare, there is endless ammount of them.
