    800 marked Juncker EK2 spange

Has anyone seen one like this before? Detail is nice and highlights are polished- doesn't show any casting seam

    Look forward to your opinions....

    Many thanks

      Personally speaking, it lacks detail.

        Hi Patrick,

I saw this one, or one just like it, at the MAX last year. I passed on it because it appeared to me to be cast. But then I remembered some evidence that S&L made silver and neusilber oakleaves after the war, and that the neusilber ones were die-struck but that the silver ones were cast. It made me wonder if maybe there was some reason silver Spangen wouldn't have been die-struck. So I went back to look at the Spange to double-check the quality, etc., but it was gone.

It must have been this piece, right? Did you get it at the MAX?

The only example of an 800-marked silver Juncker Spange I know of is the 1. Class atop Milch's Combo. I think Dietrich has examined that piece in minute detail, so perhaps he can remember if it was also cast, and maybe share a photo of the 800 mark with you to compare.

Maybe very precise measurements of your piece would help also.
        Best regards,
        Streptile

I doubt its originality. Looks quite... clumsy... Nothing that I would expect from Juncker.

One just like this one sold this morning on Baldes' site.

Patrick, out of curiosity: did you get this piece at the MAX?

I'm just wondering if there are more than one of these about, or if all the recent examples I've seen are the same one.
            Best regards,

It is the same one ... I have only ever seen one of these and that is this one, I got it from a dealer so no idea if it is the same one that was at the Max. It is a very nice quality item in hand and Carsten was obviously of the same opinion as me that the clasp is a period variation.

                  Hi Patrick

Have you tested it if it's real silver?

Personally I like it, although I have never seen something alike. There's a positive thing and a negative thing when I see that "800" stamp:

                  1) The place of the stamp looks not like someone might have added it, why not stamp it on the reverse, then one doesn't need to open the prong..

                  2) The thing looses a prong, the "800" stamp might be added as there was nothing to loose.
                  Kind regards,
                  Giel
