    Interesting W&L crosses:

One , two more unusual W&L found amongst the many they made .
An W&L EK2 with wide flanges . W&L core have high Swastikas but this one is exceptionaly high - almost twice the beading .

Also got to make a decent picture of the - 2 - frosting types found : a side by side picture is needed .
A cool white on the left and a very different tan white (Meeresschaum) on the right . On the left a marked W&L - the other is unmarked .

        Douglas,

This is quite an array of W&L's. The cross in post #1 looks on the order of a Juncker with its wide flanges, but the typical W&L crunch bead proves otherwise.

Very nice collection of crosses. The high swastika on the first cross is very abnormal. I've never seen one with this tall of a profile.

        Thanks for sharing these,

        Robert

Have not posted close ups of the early W&L EK1 with Ni- plated Copper core - and polished and lacquer coated frame . A good portion of the now yellow lacquer still remains .

More: bottom - close up of center--> copper core and big chunks of yellowed lacquer on the frame still .

Scrapped the corner of the Swastika to expose the copper .
W&L crosses with copper cores are very hard to find!

I was trying to show in one thread the multitude of variations one can find with W&L manufacturing - as subtle they are at times and most collectors are not aware of ....until recent including me . The planchet differences only became apparent after getting a few EK2s with different weight . If it was 1 gram or 2 - such variations are normal and you would not think much about it . 16 to 21 grams is too much of a spread - which is why I did the line up .
The darker frosted crosses happen to be less common and also the heaviest . I see that as an attempt to save on materials . The KvK is the best example of that trend ... early tombak pieces progressing to late war Zinc .
