    Ldo ek?

I would like to do a question for colector comunity.

I know that LDO's mark EK was for privat sellers. The soldier bought by himself a second EK in a privat shop. So these L/ EK never was given by Wehrmacht, because they were privat adwards.

Is more apreciate the Ek without LDO marked than L/marked?

as a privat purchased, the LDO hadn't history.

    Great question.

I think the answer here is probably no -- LDO EKs are equally regarded by most collectors. Maybe other answers will prove me wrong.

    Let's hear from more collectors...
    Best regards,
    Streptile

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)

Agreed! Particularly as they are, in the main, scarcer

LDO awards where also probably more worn in the field as it is purchased and soldiers sometimes like to keep their award pieces safe at home or on their leave uniforms in my opinion.
Just my opinion not a rule.

Those thoughts would be mine also, and maybe more officers than enlisted followed this practice. This holds especially true for the few who wore EKII's around their neck, while their awarded KC was safe at home with the family.

I magine a soldier who had in their hands the EK1 was given by his General and in the other the EK1 LDO. I suppose that He appreciated more the PKZ Ek than the LDO.

This is why I think that LDO would be less appreciated by colector's comunity, but I see that LDO and PKZ have the same rates.

I would agree with what's said above. I imagine that the soldier would want to protect the awarded one in many cases. I would certainly want the real one at home and a nice stand in to take its place. People would still see that I had the EKI. I'm not sure that a soldier at the front would see much difference between the two as far as medals go. That's only a collector's view. It's the same reason that the vets in general proudly wore/ wear their 57er versions of the same awards. They have the right to wear them and can have their bravery acknowledged.

right. the other side of the "medal" is that for the same reason many many times they used their LDO crosses on their combat jackets..
