You are trying to compare apples to oranges i.e. it is 'false analogy'

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_analogy

The only point of comparison is all of these are Military awards given out by a 'national authority'

Does make for interesting discussion though.

Entering this discussion one has to look at so many factors it is almost impossible to start a common point.

Was it awarded for a single act or by points or engagements or just stepping out of an airplane and touching the soil of a TO??

Was it awarded by Rank or social class??

Was it an order or a decoration could it be awarded posthumously or would you have to survive to receive it??

Good example where Japanese valour awards you had to be 'Dead' to get them at least early in the war

Parallels between the Wehrmacht and the modern US military are few. I agree that there are not enough points of comparison to assert that any Third Reich award has a true equivalent in today's US military. There are ways to assess the "prestige" of these awards relative to each other and in the culture of the Wehrmacht but comparing them to modern awards of a very different army is not the way to do that.

regulations of the book I show are of some extend ,,,36 pages fore the ek 2 and 1 and knights cross .

so placing the rewarding of the award in to one liners is not appropriate ..
        there More to it .

        PS ....
31/07/1940 Adolf Hitler stopped all rewarding of the iron cross until
16/03 1941 the ban was lifted by the man..

        its all in the book

        regards kay
